I am a native Australian, not Italian, but I understand the process of learning this language as a foreigner, having studied it for over twenty years. I am lucky to have married into an Italian family and as such live a life immersed in its language and culture. My passion for Italy began on my travels as a backpacker when I visited Florence, Rome and the regions of my husbands heritage; the Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, both in Northern Italy. Later, whilst at home in Canberra with two babies, my study of Italian began and continues to this day. The study is ongoing primarily because it s of interest but also because its necessary to keep relevant.
My profession has always been teaching, however it did take a hiatus for approximately ten years while I discovered the industry of recruitment in various sectors, including IT. These skills have been extremely beneficial for our family business in hotels and hospitality for which I recruited all of our staff for over ten years, many of whom have come from Italy. The family business passion is ongoing and the italian connection forever strong.
'Italian with Jo' is really where my heart is. My passion is for learning and for teaching others ... I never tire of it and am always seeking to be innovative and yearn every day and every week to make the learning experience interesting, interactive and up to date. With AI ever present in our lives I hope to be able to utilse some of it's strengths to make my world more efficient, but truly believe that the best results will still be with a real teaching experience.
With many years of teaching experience and very regular trips back to this beautiful country, I wish to keep sharing my knowledge with you my audience. Dai, ce la facciamo insieme.
