I am Australian, with Scottish roots, however I understand the process of learning this language as a foreigner, having studied it for over twenty years. My teaching career began with a Bachelor of Education, Human Movement Education, from The University of Sydney. With this I taught human movement and physical education in the public and private school systems in Sydney and Canberra for many years. My journey with the Italian language started at the Dante Alighieri Society of Canberra, having had my 2 sons. Through the society I attended night classes regularly. I then took private lessons of italian with a wonderful teacher with whom I work today, and finally went on to Study a Diploma of Arts/Italian at the Australian National University. More recently I have completed several examinations through The University for Foreigners of Perugia and Siena to ascertain my level of knowledge at level B2 in 2021 and C1 in 2023. In 2025 I completed a Graduate Certificate of general and applied linguistics from the ANU. My passion is everything italian; the language of course, but I have a sound knowledge of Italy, its' geography, its' rich history, its' people, the literature, the many regional foods and dishes.
